Who knows? My thoughts I guess

Photography is both Art and its Technical... Thats what i've heard and been told by many and i find it to be true.. So my thoughts so far on what photography is to me, and what I show in my photos.

Oh yeah not to sure if anyone knows but my Second Year Portfolio theme is Classy/Elegant with a story to it. Which is due at the end of March. I'm excited for my last semester!

So yah photography is both, it wouldn't be photography if it was not art or technical. I shoot in order to build up my style of photography and helps me build up my eye and how i see things and how i can work with light. My influences and inspirations come from basically anywhere... from movies to magazine ads. I try to log all my ideas and feeling in oder to present them in my photos as in photographer its a good way on expressing how I feel.

Logged by bullet points cause I really suck at writing.

  • to give a photo life, humor, sexuality, impact, a story, meaning, able to represent myself (past, present, future) {personal work}
  • at times you got to be able to separate personal and professional and be able to use both in oder to grow and mature your different sides and style of ones photography.
  • know what i'm looking for and why in my images, to understand what im showing
  • photos can be mysterious, odd, thought provoking
  • "a work of Art" makes you feel and makes you think "to disturb" you could say
  • i say that models lend themselves to artists
  • we capture a moment in life (taken for granted, rarely seen or ours eyes cant)
  • consider the visual weight in a photos and guidelines and all other rules and then forget them
  • most are intimate with the people they shoot or places, i do feel that as well
  • i believe you do capture the characteristics of people and what they are thinking and who they are but only to people that know them the best
  • the human face: can capture peoples essence's their nature and emotions.
  • in any chaotic world their is simplicity, (keep it simple when shooting or make it look simple)
  • im critical of my work, and doubt it... i see the beauty in everything and capture it as well as i can.
  • play around cause you never know

theirs more...never ending really.... but ill end it here for now thanks for reading if you did read this haha

And don't forget... DON'T STOP SHOOTING - DON'T STOP LEARNING

Nikky: Winter Pt6

My last vacation shoot. Rated 18 Plus for mature subject Matter ....... Ahahah

Using ambient light a D3 and 24-70mm and reflector

I got chance to shoot with the very talented Nikky again (wicked at art, can tickle the hell out of guitar and has a wicked memory... no pork... thanks lol)

Wow i cant shoot without any music going on and same goes for editing.... the silence is brutal and its good to have a dance or two while shooting. It good for work flow and shooting...... man i couldnt imagine doing anything without music.

Badar: Winter Pt5

Just wanted to say umbrellas are a bitch to use, spills everywhere i did what i could given the situation i had to shoot in... haha

"Badar and his many faces" Is the title of this mini series of images included is the schematic using my amazing ability to draw in photoshop. Enjoy!

P.S I've come to a realization that even though fashion photography inspires me and its what i feel like doing i still love shooting the everyday life and other types (nature/still life... yeah i know huh scary thought huh? lol) But id like to get better at shooting anything that given to me, its a goal of mine.

Self-Portrait/Katie: Winter Pt4

Had no models for a couple of weeks now and I needed to shoot someone, so i shot myself (photographic wise, which is really hard, plus I do not like taking pictures of myself :| so this is strange for me... cause im the one that takes the pictures)

Since my self portrait is no longer a secret due to Jason's blog video of our work.... I guess ill post that up as well along with another image of that day. Enjoy (model: katie, more photos to come)
